Arthur Eugene Whitcomb

Arthur "Sonny" Eugene Whitcomb Oxnard, CA Sonny went home to be with our Lord Sunday, December 28th after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72 years old. He was born on July 30, 1936 in Baltimore, MD to Joseph and Mary Whitcomb. He married the love of his life, Esther Josephine on June 10, 1976 in Laverne, CA. Sonny was passionate about reading, writing and education. He had many degrees including a Masters in Economics. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1962. He also was a retired psychiatric technician for Camarillo State Hospital and substitute teacher for the Oxnard School District. He enjoyed jogging, lifting weights and riding his bicycle. Sonny is survived by his wife Esther; son Gene(wife Laura), daughter Sonya Velasquez(husband Anthony), stepsons Mark Flores, Ron Flores(wife Arlene), stepdaughters Karen Kitt (husband Frank), Denise Mehnert; seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters Dolly Jones, Lorna Binkley, Lois Martin, brothers George, Joe and John-Henry Whitcomb and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters Esther Wilson, Sharon Thorton, brother Leonard Whitcomb and grand-daughter Jessica Conrad.
