Anita Marie Benson

Anita Marie Benson March 16, 1951 – June 21, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother, Anita Marie Benson (59) of Camarillo, California. On June 21, 2010 Anita left to be with the Lord after a long illness. She was born March 16th in Norfolk, Virginia to Albert and Marie Mayfield. She married Robert Benson and just celebrated her 39th wedding anniversary on June 19. She had three children, Todd, Mark and Tanya. The daughter of a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, Anita moved often during her childhood and adolescence. After getting married, she knew that she wanted to settle in one location and raise a family, which she did for the past 35 years in Camarillo, CA. She had the courage and strength to return to college while raising her children and received a BS in Mathematics and retired as a Senior Manager, Systems Analyst. Anita loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and cherished her long talks with her mother. She raised her children with frequent visits to the beach and annual camping trips at El Capitan State Beach, which became one of her favorite places. In recent years, she fell in love with movies - there wasn’t a romantic comedy that she hadn’t seen and her favorites (which included almost any Julia Roberts movie) were watched over and over. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Robert, her mother Marie Mayfield, her son Todd Benson (Kerrie), her son Mark Benson (Robin), and her daughter Tanya Benson. Also left to remember her are her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Gail Mayfield. Her grandchildren, Tylor, Elizabeth, Ben, Ryan, Nicholas and Luke will greatly miss their Grandma.
