Angel Ramirez Figueroa

Angel S. Figueroa, Jr. was born September 10,1941 in Compton, California, to Angel and Agapita Figueroa. Angel was 1 of 10 children, and was taught to work hard at a young age and continued to do so until he was called to be with the Lord on January 30, 2015. He was married in 1964 to his long time sweetheart, Margaret Paramo. They initially relocated to Newbury Park and started their family. They then moved to Thousand Oaks, before settling their roots in Moorpark. Angel worked in the construction industry, operating heavy equipment, that would eventually develop into the family business, Figueroa Grading, servicing the Tri-counties. Over the years, he shared his love for speed at Lions Drag Strip where he often raced his ‘67 Ford Mustang Fastback, El Jefe. Today, his youngest son, Manuel, continues the racing tradition. In the 70’s Angel partnered and built sprint cars with good friend, Pete Schneider, as Schneider & Figueroa Racing. They made Ascot Park in Gardena, California, their home track. Angel made many friends along the way, and gave help and encouragement to all that he could. Angel took pride in his work and appreciated the opportunity to participate in the growth of Ventura County. He enjoyed collecting and restoring classic cars, taking family road trips, and listening to a wide variety of music. He has left us many beautiful and fun memories. We’ll miss his bizarre sense of humor, his strength, wisdom, as well as a solid Figueroa work ethic. Married for 44 years to the late Margaret Figueroa, Angel was preceded in death by his great grandson Jose Aguilar III, parents Angel and Agapita Figueroa, brothers John and Tranquelino Figueroa, and by his sisters Ruth Parra and Laura Mosqueda. He is survived by his current wife Gloria, and his children, Daniel (and Lisa) Figueroa, Diane (and Joe) Martinez, Teresa (and Hector) Gutierrez, Manuel Figueroa, Rosanne (and Jason) Voland, Celeste Figueroa, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Angel will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 12:00pm located at the Perez Family Funeral Home, 1347 Del Norte Road in Camarillo.
