Florence Alma Brown

September 15, 1918 — January 27, 2023

Alma was born Florence Alma Guild in East Troy, Pennsylvania and grew up on the family farm nearby.  Her childhood school years were at a one room elementary school in Diamond with High school in Titusville, PA. She spoke of the rural life of walking over a mile in the winter snow drifts to get to the main road for the school bus.

She met her husband, Ellis Arthur Brown from Guys Mills during summer vacation at Canadohta Lake in Pennsylvania and moved with him to start a family in Cleveland, Ohio during the war years. They later moved to Linesville, PA to get away from the city and raise their children, Norm and Tom, in a small-town environment.

Some things she wrote: Alma was retired from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. She was an avid walker and reader and enjoyed playing cards. She did volunteer work for the retired senior volunteer program. After retiring in 1985, traveled on tours and to visit her family in California and Texas.

She passed away during her afternoon nap on Friday Jan 27, 2023 at the amazing age of 104 having lived with my son and I in California for the past 5 years. Alma shared the love of Family and often cast back to memories of her earlier years and close family ties. She kept her congenial personality throughout and despite suffering from dementia and arthritis, every morning was still a beautiful day through her eyes.

By her wishes, her body will be cremated and interred with her family at Fairview Cemetery outside of Titusville, Pennsylvania.
