Alfonso Simon Valdez

On December 1, 2012 Alfonso was taken home to be with our Lord after fighting a short term illness. He was born on October 28, 1938 in Santa Rita, New Mexico. He was a long time resident of Oxnard, Ca. Pee Wee cherished many fond memories with his family which consists of his wife, Eva Valdez, sons: Danny Valdez (Angelica), Simon Valdez (Norma) and Tony Throop, daughters: Joanne Tovar, Cyndi (Ruben) Gamboa, and Lisa Valdez. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 6 siblings, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Alfonso is preceded in death by his father, Octaviano Valdez, mother Lucy Jimenez, and brother Joe Valdez. Family and friends will always remember spending time with him, cruising in his 1953 Chevy Bel-air hardtop, listening to oldies and corridos, and going to car shows. He loved to play his guitar and sing his favorite songs. We will always cherish the many stories of his old days that he shared with us all. On behalf of the Valdez family we would like to thank the staff at Ventura County Medical Center and Companion Care Hospice for their professional and undivided care. A celebration of Alfonso’s life will be held on December 12, 2012 at The Abundant Life Center (The Potter’s Hand Ministries) 166 South Hayes Ave. Oxnard, CA. at 10:00 am. A graveside service will immediately follow at Santa Clara Cemetery. A reception will follow at The American Legion Post 48, 2639 Wagon Wheel Road Oxnard, CA.
