Agapito Carrillo

Life Legacy Agapito (Pete) Carrillo, 87, returned to his heavenly Father on November 23, 2015. Pete died peacefully in his home, as was his wish. Pete was born in Fillmore California on September 20, 1928 to Encarnacion and Guadalupe Carrillo. Pete was a lifelong resident of Fillmore where he graduated from Fillmore High School, and worked many years in various fields, including as a general contractor, plant manager, rancher and realtor. Pete enjoyed meeting people in whatever line of work he did; he especially enjoyed helping others achieve the American dream of home ownership. Pete was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951 to 1952. During his service Pete earned the Army of Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal and The United Nations Service Medal. Pete married Elvira Cabral on June 24, 1961 in Fillmore where they remained and raised four children on the family ranch. Pete and Elvira were married for over 54 years until her passing less than three weeks prior to Pete’s. During the last months of Pete and Elvira’s lives their enduring love was evident to all who were near. Pete is survived by son Marco; daughters Kathy Saavedra (Rodney) and Josie Carrillo; son-in-law Manuel Ruvalcaba; grandchildren Corrina, Erica, Daniel, Alexis, Nicholas and Sophia; great-grandchildren Anthony, Nathaniel, Gene Jr and Amelia; sister, Nellie Carrillo and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elvira Carrillo, parents, Encarnacion and Guadalupe Carrillo, sisters Josephine Ortiz and Helen Romero, brother Simon Carrillo, daughter, Bernadette Ruvalcaba and grandson Anthony Saavedra. All services will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Fillmore. The Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 3 at 6:30 PM and the funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 4 at 10:00 AM. The graveside service will follow at Bardsdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fisher House Foundation, which benefits military veterans and their families. Visit http://www.fisherhouse.org/ways-to-give/
